Obituary for Glenn J. Stephison
Glenn J. Stephison 77 of Harrison went to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Glenn was born July 7, 1940 at home in Hatton Township, Clare County, Michigan, the son of Vernon and Violette (Turner) Stephison. Glen graduated 6th grade from Mansiding School, a one-room schoolhouse. Graduated class of 1958 from Harrison High School, Harrison, Michigan. On May 5th, in 1979, Glenn was united in marriage to Linda K. Brand.
Glenn worked for W.C. Cornwell Ranch during his teen years. He learned water well drilling from his Father, Vernon, who established the family owned business, Stephison Well Drilling. He worked as a Well Drilling Contractor until selling the business in 1998, due to health issues. He went to work for Packard Farms for the next 16 years. He left the farm to drive trucks for Cook’s Forest Products until age 77. He also wore the following hats: In 1975 he wanted a safe and fun place for the children of Harrison, so he created the Harrison Roller Rink, from the old county garage on Main Street. He poured himself into the kids and made a positive contribution to all. Howard Brockway purchased a small ski business, which was a perfect match for Glenn, who loved skiing. He worked alongside his longtime friend, Dale Brockway, as an instructor, on the ski team and ski patrol. Glen was a loving husband, wonderful father and friend. He truly enjoyed fishing, especially for salmon in Lake Michigan. His biggest passion was ushering for 40 years at Trinity Christian Life Center. He also taught various children’s ministries. He loved greeting and serving people. Always with a smile and kind words.
Surviving Glenn is his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Mrs. Linda K. Stephison of Harrison, three daughters; Cynthia Martin, Melissa Brand-Ray, and Krista Brand, two sons; Vernon Stephison and Beau Brand, sixteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one sister, Dapheen Lopes, plus many nieces, nephews, his church family and numerous friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Erwin Stephison, and three sisters Vonne Dunkle, Betty Sommers, and Karen McDonald.
Funeral services honoring and celebrating Glenn will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. from Trinity Christian Life Center, Harrison with Pastor Mitchell Frost officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison and Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Trinity Christian Life Center from 3:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be in Hatton Township Cemetery, Clare, Michigan. Memorial gifts in memory of Glenn may be considered to the Stephison Family, in care of: Linda K. Stephison.
