Charles Wesley Gross, 84, of Coleman passed away on Sunday, November 12th at home. He was born January 23rd, 1933 in Merrill, Michigan to Harvey and Anna May (McNier) Gross. He grew up on the farm in Merrill and later in Harrison where he was a star athlete and graduated in 1951.He was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served during the Korean conflict. He married Dolly Davis on February 14th, 1956 in Harrison and together they had 3 children.
Wes spent many years working for the Dow Chemical Company and selling real estate before retiring to spend time with his family. Wes and Dolly enjoyed traveling, visiting Hawaii, Las Vegas, Branson Mo., Florida, and many other places. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the grandkids swim in the family pool, fishing, his daily walks, and hosting many family events such as the Annual Davis Reunion. He will be remembered as an honest, generous, hardworking man.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Dolly. His children; Vicki (Gary) Hudson, Andy (Mary Jo) Gross, and Angela (Keith) Hafelein. Grandchildren; Jennifer (Travis) Hill, Jessica Hudson, John Hudson, Michelle (Joe) House, Nick (Rae) Hafelein, Melissa (Nick) Prout, Cassi Gross and Hunter Gross. He was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers; Earl, Ron and Leonard, father and mother in-law; Archie and Mildred Davis. In-law’s; Helen Gross, Don and Irene Smith, Glenn Bucholz, Melvin and Billie Davis, Arthur Davis, Bill Johnson, Rex Thompson and Bill Davis.
Funeral services celebrating Mr. Gross will be held on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Clare Church of the Nazarene, 10160 South Grant Avenue, Clare, Michigan 48617, with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 16th, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at Clare Church of the Nazarene. Burial and presenting of military honors will be in Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman.
