John Lewis Garrett 83 of rural Harrison passed away suddenly on Monday, February 5, 2018. John was born August 20, 1934 in Dawson Springs, KY., the son of Gene Lewis Garrett and Mary Lee (Bryan) Garrett. Mr. Garrett honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On January 10, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio, John was united in marriage to Ms. Shirley Anne Stafford. Shirley preceded John in death on November 23, 2010, after forty-six years of marriage.
Mr. Garrett had resided in Harrison since 1997, moving from Lincoln Park, Michigan after his retirement from Chrysler Corporation, where he was employed for over thirty-five years. John was a member of Hope Baptist Church, Harrison and an Iron Mustangs member for over forty years. Mr. Garrett found great comfort in reading his bible and attending his church. John had a history of racing ARCA and motorcycles. He enjoyed wrenching on cars and motorcycles not only for himself, but many family members and friends. John could strum a tune on the guitar and play a mean game of pool.
Surviving Mr. Garrett is his loving daughter, Tammy Lynn Endicott of Lincoln Park, loving son, Tracy Robert Endicott and wife Jonie of Hockley, Texas, five grandchildren; Anna Posey and husband Brian, Jody Esarove and husband Wes, Ryan Smith and wife Caroline, Shawna Endicott and Jordyn Duttine and husband William, five great-grandchildren; Michael, Nicholas, Cheyenne, Brody and Kash, one sister, Ernestine Garrett, plus several nieces and nephews. Mr. Garrett also was preceded in death by his parents. his beloved son, Danny “Silverwolf” Endicott, AND ONE SISTER, Vera Garrett.
Funeral services honoring Mr. Garrett will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Ralph Kiner officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Department of the Navy and V.F.W. Post 1075-Harrison.
