Obituary for Vivian Grace Cooper (Fox)
Vivian Grace Cooper 75 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Woodland Hospice and Morey Bereavement Center, Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Vivian was born May 30, 1942 in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Robert Hirst Fox and Grace Marie (Brown) Fox.
Vivian had resided in Clare County since 1967, coming from Burstall, Saskatchewan. Vivian began her working career in the early 1970’s, as a cashier at the Clare Giantway. She also worked at the Doherty Hotel, Clare for many years, then spent twelve years at Dunhams Long Lake Party Store, only to then own and operate Curves Fitness Center of Harrison for fifteen years and was the bookkeeper for Steve’s Country Market of Harrison. When Vivian wasn’t working and raising her family, she found great relaxation bowling on various leagues, watching televised hockey games and attending her grandchildren’s hockey games for many years. Her favorite stress reliever was playing the slots at various casinos throughout Michigan.
Surviving Ms. Cooper are her two daughters; Sandra R. Tenwalde and husband Steve of Gladwin, Michigan and Shelley L. Dixon and husband Dion of Lake Isabella, Michigan, six grandchildren; Melissa Harper and husband Josh, Amy Simons, Christopher Dixon, Thomas Dixon and wife Amanda, Alexa Tenwalde and Logan Tenwalde, five great-grandchildren; Connor Dixon, Carter Dixon, Samantha Dixon, Maddison D. and McKenzie D., her companion of many years, Mr. Elgin Dunham of Harrison, two sisters; Fay M. Wilcox of Regina, Saskatchewan and Marie Boehmer of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, one brother, Edward “Ted” G. Fox of Tappen , British Columbia, seven nieces, six nephews and many friends and customers. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, William R. Fox.
Celebration of Life services honoring Vivian will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from First Congregational United Church of Christ, Harrison with Reverend Vaughn Peterson officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to gather on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services to share in memories and stories.
