Jack Delbert Levy passed peacefully at his home in Harrison on Friday, April 27, 2018. Jack was born January 20, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Carl Alexander and Julia C. (Wissmueller) Levy. Jack honorably enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. On February 19, 1966 at the Methodist Church of Alma, Jack was united in marriage to Ms. Margie D. Slates.
Mr. Levy had resided in Harrison since 1977, coming from Saginaw. Jack retired from Saginaw Steering Gear, Plant #4 after thirty years of dedicated service. Jack was very proficient in Judo and Boxing. One year, Jack was ranked 2nd with the Michigan Golden Gloves. For many years, Jack instructed many young people the art of Judo, and was known as: “Judo Jack” Mr. Levy enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making maple syrup and teaching his daughters the art of boxing and knife throwing.
Surviving Jack is his loving wife of fifty-two years, Mrs. Margie D. Levy of Harrison, one daughter, Doris Levy and her significant other, Mr. Richard Bussey of Spencer, Oklahoma, one son, Jeremy William Sorensen of Utah, two grandsons; Michael Delbert Levy and wife Alicia and Jonathan Carter Fisher, two loving sisters; Sally Copeland of Sanford, Michigan and Judy Levy Havens-Teeples of Clio, Michigan, one brother, William “Bill” Levy and wife Patti of Connecticut, many nieces, nephews and extended family members, numerous adopted children and grandchildren, and his beloved cat, “Sasha.” Mr. Levy was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Ruby Levy and one brother, Carl Levy.
Celebration of life services honoring Mr. Levy will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Harrison Branch, 1125 Byfield Drive, Harrison, Michigan 48625. Family and friends are encouraged to gather at the church for a time of sharing from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.
