Delbert “Del” Earl Riske 80 of rural Harrison, Franklin Township, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 29, 2018. Delbert was born December 6, 1937 in Franklin Township, Michigan the son of Frank and Emma (Helming) Riske. Del was united in marriage to Marlene Kay Silsby on June 8, 1957. Marlene preceded Delbert in death on March 6, 2011 after fifty-three years of marriage.
Delbert resided in Franklin Township his entire lifetime, built his home on the family farm where he was birthed. Throughout the years, Del was a dairy and crop farmer, while switching to beef cattle in his later years, which he was still working and raising to the very end. Prior to his farming career, he worked on the pipeline. Delbert made a living doing what he loved. He was an honest, proud, hardworking man. He will be missed.
Surviving Mr. Riske are his three daughters; Cindy Hinman and husband Chuck of Gladwin, Linda Oliveto and husband Hugh of Simi Valley, California and Sandy Scherrer and husband Mike of Harrison, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews. Mr. Riske also was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Joseph Delbert Oliveto, one sister, Ruth Sanders and two brothers; Wayne Riske and James Riske.
Celebration of Life services honoring Mr. Riske will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Elder Joyce Beemer officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to gather on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
