Obituary for Winifred Anne "Winnie" Guzowski (Minkle)

Winifred Anne "Winnie" Guzowski (Minkle)
Winnie (Minkle) Guzowski 94, of Lake George, Michigan passed away quietly and surrounded by her family. Winnie was a Depression-era child who grew up in Boston amidst a loving family of three sisters and one brother. Having lost her mother at a young age her father Arthur Minkle kept the family together throughout their young lives.
Winnie Married Leo Michael Guzowski on October 25, 1947. They immediately moved to Cleveland, Ohio to start their life together. Children soon followed, seven in fact. Survivors include: Paul (Pat) of Rochester, MI., Kenneth of Eugene, OR., Richard (Sally) of Lake Leelanau, MI., Arthur (Mary) of Chelsea, MI., Robert (Sue) of Lake George, MI., Mary Guzowski-Lindbeck (James) of Minneapolis, MN., and John (Carol) of Lake, MI., as well as twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Having graduated from the Boston Secretarial School Winnie went on to work as a business and medical secretary before becoming a fulltime mother and wife. During the 1950-70s, she was a devoted and creative homemaker. After purchasing the Lake General Store with Leo in 1973, she was an active member of the community in the village of Lake, Michigan. On retiring in the mid-1980s, she and Leo continued to enjoy time at Bass Lake, while wintering in Florida. After Leo passed away Winnie remained in Fort Myers, Florida where she was active in club activities and enjoyed walking, swimming, and Tai Chi. In 2015, she returned to Michigan to live with family in Lake George. Winnie was an avid reader, knitter, and card player all of her life and enjoyed socializing wherever she lived. She was a devout member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Harrison, Michigan.
