Carol Mae Philbin 85 of rural Harrison passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Munson Healthcare-Grayling Hospital. Carol was born February 4, 1933 in Bluffton, Ohio, the daughter of Marion and Lucille (Coon) Boyd. In 1950, Carol graduated from Western High School, Southwest, Detroit. On November 14, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan, Carol was united in marriage to Mr. Ronald Michael Philbin. Mr. Philbin preceded Carol in death on August 24, 2009, after fifty-five years of marriage.
Mrs. Philbin had been a resident of Harrison since 1995, coming from Detroit. Mrs. Philbin retired after thirty years as an administrative assistant working for various manufacturing facilities throughout the Detroit area. Carol found her relaxation in reading books. She enjoyed visiting the Harrison District Library, hunting for her next book to read. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzle books, adult coloring books, shopping on QVC, watching HGTV, watching birds at the bird feeder, especially the pileated woodpeckers and challenging her daughter Debora to a good game of Scrabble. Carol found great companionship in her cats, never missing a chance at spoiling them.
Surviving Mrs. Philbin are her three loving children; one daughter, Debora Bilicki and husband James of White Lake, Michigan, two sons; Patrick M. Philbin and wife Deborrah of Detroit and Glenn M. Philbin of Harrison, six grandchildren; Joseph, Brian, Brandon, Kevin, Shane and Dylan, two sisters; Marlene Smith of Charlotte, Michigan and Diana Slate of North Carolina, one brother, Burdette Boyd of Taylor, Michigan, plus a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Philbin also was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Lori Philbin and one sister, Jeanette Lyman.
Celebration of Life services honoring Mrs. Philbin will be announced at a later date. Memorial gifts in memory of Carol may be considered to: ASPCA or Clare County Animal Shelter. I am very sorry for your loss. Carol was a frequent library user, and I always looked forward to seeing her come in to check out books. I was very fond of her and will miss seeing her, her book suggestions, and her friendliness to all of us who work at the Harrison Library.

My condolences in the loss of your dear loved one. When our loved ones die it pains our hearts. Our loving God is aware of this and he comforts us by means of his word the Bible. Psalms 34:18 says: "God is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." The promise at Revelation 21:4 is also very comforting which says: "He (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." May these words strengthen and encourage you during this time of bereavement.
