Earl “Sonny A. Zerba 84 of rural Harrison passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Clare. Earl was born January 4, 1935 in Lansing, Michigan the son of Earl A. Zerba Sr. and Evelyn (Parson) Zerba.

Earl had resided in Harrison since 1982, moving from Lansing. Earl was united in marriage to Marilynn Kay (Weimer) Carey on May 24, 1997, in Harrison. Sonny retired from Fisher Body of Lansing after 30 years. Earl was a lifetime member of Twenty Lakes Antique Engine and Tractor Club of Harrison. He enjoyed collecting, restoring and showing Farmall tractors, building and selling stock cars and motorcycles. One of Earl’s greatest accomplishments was restoring his grandfather’s Sears Handyman tractor alongside his son, Glenn. Earl enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, vegetable gardening, feeding his birds, and attending Great Lakes Loons baseball games in Midland, especially when he could watch from a private suite.
Surviving Earl is his wife of 21 years, Marilynn Kay Zerba of Harrison, four daughters; Debra Grimes of Paxton, Illinois, Cheryl Bush and husband Terry of Charlotte, Karen Case and husband Bruce of Midland and Tammy Massey of Harrison, two sons; Earl A. Zerba III of Lansing and Glenn Carey and wife Carrie of Midland, eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, one brother, Roger Zerba and wife Barb of Duck Lake, two step-brothers; Fred Pike and Doug Pike, one brother in law, David Weimer, his k-9 companion, Zoie and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Zerba, three sisters; Betty, Barbara and Jackie, and two brothers; Jerry and Jim Zerba.
Celebration of Life services honoring Earl will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Homer Township Fire Department, 222 South Homer Road, Midland, Michigan 48640, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a luncheon immediately following. Inurnment will take place in Homer Township Cemetery. Memorial gifts in memory of Earl may be considered to: Twenty Lakes Antique Engine and Tractor Club of Harrison.
