Steven “Jimmy” James Potter 68 of rural Harrison passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Steven was born May 18, 1951 in Harrison, the son of John French Potter and Lois Marie (Petoskey) Potter. Steven enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country with three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Jimmy had resided in Harrison his entire life. Mr. Potter was united in marriage to Grace Delane Cole in Harrison. Mrs. Potter preceded Jimmy in death on August 8, 2014.

Jimmy was a tribal member of Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and American Legion Post 404 of Harrison. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, creating art work, watching WWE wrestling, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He loved cooking spaghetti, steak and pork chops for his beloved dog, Starlite. Jimmy will always be remembered for helping others in need.
Surviving Mr. Potter are his three siblings; Beatrice Law, Joseph Potter and Victoria Vogel, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Starlite. Jimmy also was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Paulette Isabel Randall, Dorthea Arlene Stakey, Elanor Rebecca Cooper and Evangeline Marie Badgero, one brother, John Wayne Potter, one niece, Idaline Randall, his son, Robert and a nephew, Nathan Marsh.
A time of gathering for Jimmy will be held Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Stocking Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
