Obituary

Loretta Katherine Neville 93 of Harrison passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Clare. Loretta was born October 11, 1927 in Hanover, Kansas the daughter of Christopher Nicholas Koppes and Anna Katherine (Merrian) Koppes. Loretta graduated from Hanover High School in 1945. Loretta was united in marriage to Mr. Joseph Neville on July 19, 1949 in Hanover, Kansas. Mr. Neville preceded Loretta in death on June 8, 1989 after forty years of marriage. Mrs. Neville had resided in Harrison since 1978, moving from Melvindale, Michigan.
Loretta loved her family with all her heart! She loved and worshipped her God, church and rosary. Loretta loved having her coffee each and every morning in her chair while saying her prayers with rosary in hand! A few of her favorite things were gardening, crossword puzzles, playing cards, sewing, red hats, chicken wings and making her famous bean soup. Loretta was great at building fires and making quilts for everyone in the family! She loved to dress up as Mrs. Claus and hand out stuffed animals at the local nursing home and visit the kindergarten classes. Two of Loretta’s passions were decorating her yard for everyone to enjoy. The town looked forward to it as much as she did. Loretta was interviewed & written up in the local newspaper many times for her displays! She also loved hosting her garage sales and chatting with all her “regulars”!
Surviving Loretta are her four sons; Danny Neville and wife Linda of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Gary Neville and wife Eileen of Taylor, Michigan, Jeffrey Neville and wife Marilyn of Stryker, Ohio and Joseph Neville II and wife Marian of Livonia, Michigan, two daughters; Mary Lou Neville of Stryker, Ohio and Kristy Ballor and husband Mark of Troy, Michigan, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Neville also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Neville, one grandson, James Daniel Neville, four sisters; Agnes, Mildred, Anna Margaret and Marcella, and one brother, Edward Koppes.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Loretta will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 South Broad St., Harrison with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to gather from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at St. Athanasius Catholic Church. You were always there with a listening ear or ready to give great advice. I will miss our long talks on the phone and sending crossword puzzles to each other in the mail. You were very special to me and I will miss you so much. Just remember what I always told you...Behave and Don't cause trouble!
I love you Gram,
Your Ugly Duckling.🥰
