Richard (Rick) Lawrence Myers, age 67 of Lake, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was born on June 15, 1953 in Detroit, MI to Bill and Fran Myers.

Rick joined the Navy in 1971 at the age of 18. Returning home from the service in 1975, he purchased a brand-new Mach 1 Mustang. His childhood friends recall Rick "roasting the tires" of his Mustang from one end of the Farwell High School parking lot to the other, leaving a trail of billowing smoke in his path. Rick had many friends throughout his life that can recall similar stories: stories that make them laugh, shake their head, and end with a smile.

Rick worked for Cassens Transport as a member of the Truck Driver’s Local Union 299 until 2016 and has enjoyed the retired life ever since. His days of retirement have been filled with golf and socializing with friends both old and new; his evenings were spent rooting for his favorite football teams (namely, the Detroit Lions against his better judgement).

Rick had hands, a voice, and a laugh that were all larger than life. At Stoney Creek Metropark, no microphone was needed to orchestrate the family reunion prize raffle if Rick was present. Many can recall his bellowing voice announcing the raffle numbers and yelling "HEEEYYYYYY" to bring the Myers Clan back to the picnic tables when attentions were diverted. When Rick shook your hand, it was impossible to not wince in the overlapping of his hand on yours. His son RJ recalls the safety he felt when holding his father’s hand as a young boy.

Rick lived in the moment; he enjoyed the present without hesitation or concern for the future. Rick was always the life of the party and his family referred to him as the “fun” uncle. Rick, possessing the self-proclaimed “Gift of Gab” could talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time. He will be remembered by many.

In his passing, Rick leaves behind his only son, Richard “RJ” Myers, daughter-in-law Jenna Myers, and three granddaughters: Claire (7), Elle (5), and Brynn (1), One sister, Karen Williams, and three brothers Robby, Dale, and Ron Myers.

A memorial celebration of life for Rick will take place in Michigan at a later date. Details to follow. To share an online memory or condolence with Richard’s family, please visit: Arrangements and care of Mr. Myers are entrusted with Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison (989)539-7810.
