Bernard "Bud" Paul Shereda 90 passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Lake George Michigan on Thursday January 21, 2021. His daughter Cindy (his caregiver) lived with him in Lake George. Bernard was born August 3rd, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan the son of John and Mary (Michalski) Shereda. Bernard graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1948. After high school graduation Bernard honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bernard was united in marriage to Ms. Jean Marie Gansior on July 30, 1955 in Hamtramck, Michigan. Jean preceded Bud in death on February 3rd, 2015 after fifty-nine years of marriage.
Bernard spent many years enjoying his Lake George cottage with his loving wife Jean and their son and daughter, Steve and Cindy. Bernard could be seen driving his pontoon boat, with Jean at his side and their late dog Max, all around the lake. They both enjoyed gardening and hunting for mushrooms in the woods at the lake. Bernard enjoyed drawing, painting and watching both the Detroit Tigers baseball games and the Detroit Lions football games on television. He bowled with his wife Jean on the Guys and Dolls bowling league in his younger years.
Bernard had worked at the Cross Company of Fraser for many years and then became a Real Estate Agent. Prior to that he was working for his brother Eddie on various construction projects.
Surviving Bernard Shereda are his two children Cynthia Shereda and Steven Scott Shereda and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernard was the last of 12 siblings to pass.
Funeral Mass for Bernard will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pio of Pietrelcina (formally St. Athanasuis) Catholic Church, 18720 13 Mile Road, Roseville, Michigan 48066. Bernard will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Charter Township, Michigan.
