Judy Lynn Paullin 80 of Harrison passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Judy was born September 14, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan the daughter of Verco and Geraldine (Warner) Sargent. Judy graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School 1958. Judy furthered her education graduating from Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan with a diploma. Judy was united in marriage to Mr. Daniel Wyman Paullin on December 5, 1965 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Mr. Paullin preceded Judy in death on April 12, 2007 after forty-one years of marriage. After many years practicing as a Registered Nurse, Judy returned to college and earned her BSN and became a Nurse Practitioner in women’s health.

Mrs. Paullin had resided in Harrison since 1968, moving from Lawton, Oklahoma. Judy worked as a Registered Nurse in the operating room for years, before becoming the school nurse for Harrison Community Schools when her kids were young. She moved to public health nursing, working first for the Health Department as a home care nurse and later as the director of Meridian Home Care in Mt. Pleasant. During this time, she went back to school to complete her bachelor’s degree earning a BSN before completing her certificate in Women’s Health and becoming a women’s health nurse practitioner. She worked many years providing women’s healthcare in the family planning clinics in Clare, Gladwin, Arenac, and Roscommon county health departments. She loved being a nurse and cared for everyone she met: her family, neighbors, students and patients. Judy was a voracious reader, she loved to knit and photography was a passion for many years. Judy was an excellent cook; she loved trying new recipes as well as traditional family favorites. But nothing gave Judy Paullin more pleasure than her grandkids and the feeling was mutual. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with Ryann, Ally, Cole and Chase.
Surviving Judy are her two loving daughters; Danee Kaplan and husband Lieutenant Colonel Richard Kaplan of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Michelle Roberts and husband Jason of Royal Oak, Michigan, Ryann Kaplan, Chase Kaplan, Ally Roberts and Cole Roberts, one sister in-law, Pat Paullin, one brother in-law, Gordon Kobs, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Paullin also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Charlene Kobs, and one brother in-law, RT Paullin.
Funeral services honoring Judy will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from Hope Baptist Church, 3315 East Townline Lake Road, Harrison, with family and friends officiating. Visitation will take place Friday, May 28, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, 165 W. Oak Street, Harrison and Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
