After graduating from High School Nicky married Gary Hoffman and moved to Alma. Nicky had a lifelong love and passion for horses, helping others, and teaching. She first shared that gift as a 1st-grade teacher and a drug and alcohol counselor before realizing her dream of a horse farm, Hi-Land Acres. Nicky gave riding lessons, boarded horses, and was the 4-H leader for Turf & Trail 4-H Club. She furthered her love of leadership for youth and community by accepting the position as Gratiot County 4-H Youth Agent. With a move to Athens, Georgia, Nicky worked for the Kellogg Foundation doing research on minority farmworkers in the south. Nicky loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. Her amazing love, gentle soul, enveloping warm hugs, and beautiful smiles will be so greatly missed by her family.
